Mick and I organised a cake sale fundraiser in November in respect to the families that lost their loved ones in the Carrickmines fire in October 2014. We raised €2235 for the SVP Carrickmines Tragedy Fund. Here's a very proud picture just after the final count.

Lynsey McGovern is an independent councillor elected by the people in the 2014 local elections to serve the Glencullen/Sandyford Ward. Since entering the council she was appointed to the Dun Laoghaire sports partnership committee, Sandyford Policing Forum and the Joint Policing Committee.  Her experience as a chartered physiotherapist has been invaluable to the Sports Partnership committee. Lynsey is passionate about promoting sport and fitness throughout the county and helping sports clubs grow and develop to serve their communities better.

Lynsey has been lobbying since 2002 along with the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists to have the title of physiotherapy and physical therapy protected. In January 2016, along with the ISCP she met with the Minister of health, Leo Varadkar to discuss this concern after lobbied many councillors, TD’s and senators of all parties to support this debate for the safety of the public. On January 26th the Minister declared his decision to protect both titles under one state register. Only certain physical therapists will be applicable to register over the next 2 years with the new state board. Physical therapists will be able to use both titles as will physiotherapists but physical therapists will be permitted to operate within an agreed scope of training.

Lynsey’s priorities as a elected representative are to ensure constituent’s are being heard. Without understanding what issues are on the ground she cannot serve the people of the county to the best of her ability. If you require Lynsey’s assistance in local concerns please call her on 086 4611634. You can become a friend of her Facebook page or follow her on Twitter
